Burnley to use pensioners as mascots before Lincoln City FA Cup tie

Now sitting top of the Vanarama National League, City have scored 10 goals in their last four games, including the three against Brighton, who boast the second best defence in the Championship.

But going up against Lincoln City, the Clarets can expect a different type of challenge.

"The manager has been class and to be in the fifth round of the FA Cup and top of the league, you couldn't ask for much more".

Manager Danny Cowley said that the Brighton win was, "beyond all of (his) wildest dreams", and praised the organisation and bravery of his players.

Burnley signed the 24-year-old shot-stopper from Charlton Athletic last summer on a three-year contract but the new arrival is yet to make his Premier League bow.

Cowley was at Turf Moor last weekend to witness Burnley's draw with Premier League leaders Chelsea, as he looks to plot a result against Sean Dyche's side.

The hills surrounding Early Valley Road on the Port Hills are left with the scars of a fire that raged for four days and nights. Civil Defence said it had confirmed 11 homes had been razed but added the situation was constantly changing.

Non-League Lincoln City will join Sutton United and attempt to become the first teams in the modern era to reach the quarter-finals (Spurs won the trophy as an amateur side in 1901) - but both face huge tests. "Burnley's home form is unreal and one of the best in the league, it will be a tough ask but we will enjoy it and give it our best".

The two sides have met three times before in the FA Cup, with Burnley emerging victorious on all three occasions (although two of those games were forced to replays). Knott is ineligible to play on Saturday as he is cup-tied.

Robbie Brady struck a marvellous free-kick on his full Burnley debut as they held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw. Steven Defour and Dean Marney will miss the game through injury.

Lincoln have sold their allocation of 3,200 tickets, significantly less than the 7,000 first requested.

The game kicks off at 12.30pm and is live on BT Sport.

"It helps having them around and I think he's adapting well to what we are".

"For me, along with Eddie Howe, he is the best English manager out there at the moment". I understand the thought process and, besides, I take my prep for any game very seriously.

It's been an eventful journey for the 23-year-old central defender.

On Lincoln's FA Cup run thus far. It is mad, especially for non-league sides.

"He's got a good manner about him and he's good around the group", he said. Lincoln have hardly been kept goalless all season, scoring 61 in their 30 league games to date.

The Clarets have a real chance to do something in the FA Cup and a few punters might even be tempted to back them as outsiders to go on and win the competition at odds of [27.0].
