HBO Announced That The André The Giant Documentary Is Officially Happening

Rolling Stone was the first outlet to break this latest round of WWE news, which became a top trending topic on Twitter the minute it was announced. When Simmons signed a multi-platform deal with HBO later that year, which included producing his now-canceled Any Given Wednesday series, Richard Johnson of Page Six reported the Andre doc was atop the priority list.

On Monday, a joint press release from the executive vice president of HBO and WWE's own Kevin Dunn announced that the Bill Simmons Media Group will indeed produce the documentary - entitled André The Giant - and it will be a join production between Simmons, HBO and WWE, and will eventually debut on HBO. We always hear about unicorns these days-André was the ultimate unicorn. As Simmons is quoted in Variety's piece, "He's a true legend". Everyone who ever crossed paths with him has an Andre story - and usually four or five.
