But the minutes of the ECB's January 18-19 meeting, published on Thursday, show that policy makers thought their job wasn't yet done.

It wouldn't be the college football offseason without Jim Harbaugh engaging in a public Twitter feud. Plus, Johnson coached more than a decade in the National Football League and was later UCLA's offensive coordinator, so he has credentials.

In an appearance on ESPN's Outside the Lines, SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum described the hire as "cheating" and that it was Harbaugh's way to gain a huge recruiting advantage. I think he's one of the smartest people I've run into in a long time.

Finebaum called Harbaugh an "evil genius" but accused him of cheating and "blatantly disregarding the spirit of the NCAA rule" on Outside the Lines.

"Pete Finebaum, the unabashed SEC water carrier, really needs to get his facts straight".
