LOS ANGELES The California man accused of buying assault rifles used by the married couple who massacred 14 people at a San Bernardino office party in December 2015 pleaded guilty on Thursday of conspiring with one of the killers in previous plots.
Marquez, who admitted purchasing weapons years earlier for Farook, was the only person formally charged in connection with the shootings.
According to the Riverside County District Attorney's Office, Enrique Marquez Jr., 25, entered into a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney's Office on Tuesday, admitting to one count each of providing material support to terrorists and making false statements in the acquisition of firearms.
Marquez is facing a statutory maximum sentence of 25 years in federal prison when he is sentenced August 21st.

Authorities said Marquez purchased the guns used by Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, in the December 2, 2015, attack in which 14 people were killed at a public health agency event before the suspects died in a gunfight with police.
Farook, the US-born son of Pakistani immigrants, and Malik, a Pakistani native he married in Saudi Arabia in 2014, died in a shootout with police four hours after the massacre.

Marquez did not take part in the San Bernardino massacre but was arrested about two weeks later and has remained in custody ever since. It was during that time that Marquez purchased the two rifles that Farook and Malik ultimately used in San Bernardino. The FBI said the two began discussing extremist views shortly thereafter.
Marquez is the only individual to face prosecution for the 2015 attack.
