Tennis player pays off Super Bowl bet with date at Nets game

Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard paid off her lost Super Bowl bet by joining blind date John Goehrke at a Brooklyn Nets NBA home game against Milwaukee yesterday morning (Singapore time).

Bouchard had tweeted that she "knew Atlanta would win" with the Falcons holding a big lead over the Patriots during the NFL's championship game.

The young marketing major shot off a tweet to Bouchard asking if she'd go on a date with him if the Patriots came back to win.

Eugenie Bouchard kept her promise and went on her Twitter date.

During the date, her rumored boyfriend Jordan Caron, shared this photo of Bouchard's Sports Illustrated debut.

Merson disputes these tags, though, telling talkSPORT: "I don't think tactically [Wenger] is as great as people say. You all say that, I just listen".

After having made a bet with her fan on Twitter, Bouchard upheld her end of the bargain, and quickly put Goehrke, who is a 20-year-old student, at ease.

Bouchard's agent contacted the Nets for tickets.

Bouchard told TMZ that, "he's normal" and that she would have a second date with him. Goehrke bought a few new clothes for the date and then early Wednesday morning, he flew out from Columbia, Missouri, with a layover in Chicago and arrived in NY around midday.

'I didn't know [he was going to be normal], it's complete luck - I'm so lucky'.

'I thought maybe there was a chance she would respond, but I thought there was no chance she'd actually agree to it'.

That bummer was barely a blip for the 20-year-old University of Missouri student on a night of freaky reality.

"Awesome", she said. "He's normal". I don't even know what he looks like!

"Lesson learned", Bouchard followed with later. No word though, of if there will be a second date.

With Bouchard's Twitter follower count topping the 1 million mark, it gives other fans hope that they too can win a date with their favorite sports star.
