The Vancouver Canucks have traded Alex Burrows

The Canucks winger could have been a good fit to be reunited with Alain Vigneault in NY. The tug from his hometown Montreal Canadiens merited consideration. And there was another one in particular with a Canucks connection that addressed the desire to land with a competitive club and be near his native Pincourt, Que.

The Ottawa Senators acquired Alex Burrows from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Jonathan Dahlen, Senators general manager Pierre Dorion announced on Monday. Burrows reportedly signed a two-year, $5 million contract with the Senators, per Sportsnet's Dan Murphy. "After practice, talking to my agent about the deal with Ottawa, how it came it up really quickly and I had to make a decision". "I wish I could have kept playing and pushed for that". Our players have done exactly what we've asked of them. He has 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) and 53 penalty minutes in 55 games this season.

Burrows finishes his Canucks career with 384 points (193-191) in 822 regular-season games, but is far from finished as a noted pest and prime-time playoff performer. "He's had a terrific season playing in Sweden and was a big part of Sweden's offense at the World Juniors".

Russian Federation and China veto Syria sanctions
A resolution needs nine votes in favor and no vetoes by the United States, France, Russia, Britain or China to be adopted. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government has denied its forces have used chemical weapons.

"I made a list of potential candidates that could come and take [MacArthur's] spot in the lineup and I feel Alex is going to do that with the intangibles, the character that he brings, the leadership that also Clarke had", Dorion said.

"I wanted to go to a team that was a good fit for me hockey-wise, but also family-wise", he said.

"There's not a flawless situation, but Ottawa was close".

An influx of new, more supportive lawmakers and pressure from Republican House Speaker Kurt Daudt gave it an extra push this year. Wright said his goal is to simplify the state's tax structure, but he didn't expect so much opposition from the alcohol industry.

"He's a really intense coach, really passionate about the game, really detail oriented", said Burrows, who played under Boucher for Canada at the 2012 world championships.

"I think we have become a tougher team to play against [this season], but with the acquisition of Alex Burrows today we've become an even tougher team to play against".

It was fitting that in Burrows' final game as a Canuck on Saturday, he lined up with Daniel and Henrik Sedin and the line combined for a Daniel goal.

As the ball crossed the white line, the referee's watch buzzed and signalled that a goal should be awarded to Feyenoord. This is a moment that will live long in the memory for both sides regardless of how the table ends up.

If Burrows had any inkling a trade was in the works, he didn't let on to reporters after practising with the Canucks on Monday morning. And it wasn't surprising that his cellphone was loaded with messages from well-wishers. They have a great team, they have a lot of good pieces. that's the good part. The way he's handled his team all year, I think they're looking really strong.
