In a post over on Battle.net, [via FreedomCGC] Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan explained that some players are exploiting the custom game mode in order to level up while inactive, and they will resort to banning those users for doing so.
Kaplan cares about Overwatch, but sometimes you can't treat your community like babies.
Many players, fans, and gamers who are also on the autistic spectrum expressed much gratitude and appreciation towards the game developers for creating a character that so well-represented a certain subset of our population that has historically not been given the respect that should've already been there in the first place. Kaplan confirmed Skirmish custom games no longer award XP and the Away From Keyboard timer has been enabled in the mode.
AM Rain/PM Sun for Friday, Cool Down Coming for the Southeast
Winds will be out of the Northwest/North at 12-25mph with gusts occasionally around 30mph. Cloudy skies are expected Friday morning with clearing during the afternoon.
"The reason I want to be absolutely clear about this is because we are going to start to take disciplinary action against people who partake in these activities". Abusing and exploiting Custom Game or any other game mode to earn experience in Overwatch while inactive is NOT ok. He implores players to report anyone creating custom games with the intention of cheating the system and promises that those players will be banned. To do so, players would invite their friends or other players into a custom game of Skirmish, and then after choosing their respective heroes, they would not need to participate and can even go inactive. Now I really wouldn't recommend it. Starting today, Blizzard is taking action, and they're not messing around.
Kaplan warns that those who create, join, or name their custom game room that "in anyway even implies that gaining experience while inactive is OK" will risk having their account banned.
"Obviously, I know what our plan is and how we will ramp things up to combat this behaviour here on the Overwatch team", Kaplan continues. As some of you have noticed, Skirmish in Custom Game no longer rewards experience.
Trump has 'no recollection' of meeting with Russian ambassador
WikiLeaks published Clinton's emails during the election, which was a theme taken up by Trump repeatedly during the campaign. According to a YouGov poll, 52 percent of Democrats believe Russian Federation tampered with the vote totals to elect Trump.
"When we put this (custom games) feature live, we had an internal escalation plan for how to combat this behavior". Abusing and exploiting custom game or any other game mode to earn experience in Overwatch while inactive is NOT ok.
"I really don't want to see us getting to that point", added Kaplan, before asking for the community's help in combating this by reporting farming servers.
What do you think of Blizzard coming down hard on XP cheaters/exploiters? Don't jokingly put those names in your own custom games.
Live interview hilariously interrupted by children
The episode reaches a crescendo when a frenzied nanny bursts in, in a cartoon-like blur, and corrals the children out of the room. Kelly tries unsuccessfully to push her aside as he continues to discuss the South Korean president's impeachment.
After these warnings, Kaplan requested for help from the Overwatch community to stop abusing the system and to report offending players.
