Han-sol: My father was killed

A young man claiming himself to be Kim Han-Sol, the son of Kim Jong-nam, who was assassinated in Kuala Lumpur in February, appeared in a YouTube video on Wednesday for the first time to express gratitude for the humanitarian assistance offered to the family by some governments.

In the video, the man speaking in English says, "My name is Kim Han-sol, from North Korea, part of the Kim family".

Kim Jong Nam's son, in hiding since his father's VX nerve-agent murder in Malaysia, spoke out in a video, saying he's with his mother and sister.

The video was published by a group, calling itself Cheollima Civil Defense, which said it responded last month to an emergency request by Kim Jong Nam's family for "extraction and protection".

Kim Han-sol grew up with his father, mother and sister in Macau where he reportedly lived a "very normal life" going to global schools in the city. Han-sol held up a passport to prove his identity.

The whereabouts of the family of Kim Jong-nam has been unknown since his death in a Kuala Lumpur airport. "I'm now with my mother and my sister", he says, seconds after holding what appears to be a North Korean passport into the camera to prove his identity.
