Fox News' statement on the canceling of the "O'Reilly Factor" host said, "By ratings standards, Bill O'Reilly is one of the most accomplished TV personalities in the history of cable news". (D-Calif.) The California congresswoman and O'Reilly have sparred more than a few times in the public eye with Waters being unafraid to speak her mind.

O'Reilly's dismissal came just a year after Fox News was mired in a sexual harassment scandal that led to the ouster of Roger E. Ailes as chairman of Fox News. The accusations, which includes verbal abuse and lewd behavior directed at employees and guests of the show, span a period between 2012 and 2016.
