Balenciaga's $2145 bag bears striking resemblance to Ikea's 99-cent tote

It's not the first time there have been eerie similarities between Balenciaga products and normal household items - people freaked out earlier in the year about their £2300 blanket bag - which looks just like the packaging you get those fleecy blankets with HUGE flowers on in.

Instead of a cheap knockoff of an expensive bag, the new Balenciaga bag looks like a pricier version of something costs 99 cents.

The IKEA version is made entirely of a recyclable material call polypropylene whereas the Balenciaga version is created from a "wrinkle, glazed leather" according to designer store, Barney's.

Ikea reacted immediately, the old good Sweden brand is pretty excited about having inspired Balenciaga though. It hasn't publicly responded to the controversy, so we can't be sure.

But while the Ikea tote is very handy for carrying around that flat packed side table, there's no denying that the Balenciaga Arena is one stylish, which seems just the ideal size for a weekend getaway. In fact, the company is downright flattered by the imitation. "Nothing beats the versatility of a great big blue bag!"

In February, Balenciaga also paid tribute to American politics in general and failed Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders in particular when it modified his presidential campaign logo during an Autumn/Winter men's fashion show.

The fashion house also caused a social-media stir previous year when it unveiled large, striped shopper bags that were eerily similar to those found in Bangkok markets.

The high end brand's "Arena Extra-Large Shopper Tote Bag" looks suspiciously similar to IKEA's "Frakta" bag in both shape and colour.hmmm!
