Cleveland Facebook shooting victim Robert Godwin from Alabama


Stephens shot and killed himself on Tuesday after he was charged with aggravated murder early Monday after fatally shooting an innocent 74-year-old man named Robert Godwin Sr. and streaming the murder live on Facebook on Easter Sunday.

The chilling video was posted on Facebook for three hours before it was taken down, drawing criticism of the social network and renewing questions about how responsibly it polices objectionable material.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, officers received a tip around 11 a.m. when Steve Stephens' vehicle was spotted at a McDonald's in Erie. "A traffic stop was attempted and, after a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself", the Pennsylvania State Police said on Twitter.

The video, which was posted on Sunday by OH man Steve Stephens, showed the graphic murder of 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr. Godwin was walking down a Cleveland, Ohio, street when Stephens gunned him down, then posted a video of the shooting on Facebook.

Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg spoke about the murder at the site's annual developers conference Tuesday. He said he "just snapped".
