CPM to take part in DMK-led all-party meet today

Condemning Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not meeting the farmers who are protesting in Delhi, the meeting also made a decision to meet Modi along with farmers and highlight their plight. A massive public meeting would be held in Chennai on April 22 to explain to the public the need for a statewide protest on April 25, said Stalin.

Another resolution, while urging the Tamil Nadu government to waive all the loans availed by the farmers as per the high court order, also demanded convening of a special session of the State Assembly to discuss the farmer's issues as an "unusual" situation was prevailing in the state in view of the prolonged agitation by the farmers. They would and urge the PM to take steps to address the problems the farmers are facing.

The party, along with other constituents of the now-disintegrated People's Welfare Front, resolved to stay off the DMK's similar meeting in October, which was to urge the Centre to set up permanent panel to resolve Cauvery issue.

As Modi assured her of his commitment to conclude a deal, the Bangladeshi leader sounded a note of optimism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi received his Bangladeshi counterpart at the Technical area of Palam Airport.

He demanded that the all party meeting convened by the DMK to discuss issues confronting farmers should extend its support to the rail blockade agitation.
