The executive order also tightens rules that allow companies to hire skilled foreign labor, which the White House argues undercuts American workers. The manufacturer of high-end tools and equipment employs approximately 11,500 people worldwide, according to its website.

Trump and other critics of the program say it is abused by those Indian firms, who - they claim - flood the visa lottery with applications and then send workers to the USA on salaries that undercut their American counterparts.
