Former FMSCI chairman Vijay Mallya arrested in London


He was arrested on Tuesday.

The Metropolitan Police extradition unit took Mallya into custody on behalf of India, the BBC News reported.

He was produced before the Westminster Magistrates' Court today and was later granted bail. Samirbhai Vinubhai Patel was extradited in October 2016 in a case related to the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Later Mallya tweeted his own reaction to the day's proceedings, saying: "Usual Indian media hype".
