Israel indicts hacker linked to threats on US Jewish centres

The alleged offences date back to August 2015 in connection to threats made against primary schools and homes in Georgia.

According to a price list posted by the suspect, customers could order a threat of a "massacre at a private home" for $40, a call threatening a "school massacre" for $80 and a bomb threat against an airliner for $500, the indictment said.

Details of the charges being faced by the teenager, a joint US-Israeli citizen who lives in the coastal city of Ashkelon, came as it emerged that Israel would probably oppose his extradition to the US, where numerous crimes were allegedly committed.

"He's autistic. He can't control it".

Kadar's American-born mother said in an interview with Israel's Channel 2 that her son was was unable to function in school due to a brain tumour.

USA and Israeli authorities have not publicly offered a possible motive.

Government officials believe that Kader threatened Jewish community centres, airports, schools and specific commercial airline flights, over a course of two years.

In one case, Kadar allegedly called the Maimonides Hebrew Day School in Firt Myers, Fla., warning that a bomb filled with shrapnel would go off, targeting students.

"Today's charges into these violent threats to Jewish Community Centers and others represent this Department's commitment to fighting all forms of violent crime", Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement.

But the Federal Bureau of Investigation were able to track the calls after serving 100 subopenas and search warrants to various internet providers.

According to the indictment, Kadar used the dark web to earn $240,000 for his "make-a-threat", services.

The Anti-Defamation League welcomed the filing of criminal charges against Kadar.

The teenager was arrested last month in a joint operation of the Israeli police and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"The accused even asked customers to contact him if they had special requests for threats against other targets and to receive a customized quote", according to the charge sheet.

The Israeli-American teen accused of making threats against Jewish community centers throughout the United States was charged in a Tel Aviv court.

The charges also include making threats to passenger planes, including British Airways flights between London and NY.

However, in the Athens indictment, Kadar faces only a single charge for threatening a private residence in Athens in January, in part because he was not yet 18 when he made the 2015 school threats and therefore can not face charges as an adult, according to a report from the Reuters news service.
