The reports come after LG's crosstown rival Samsung rolled out the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, both of which have incorporated facial recognition software for user authentication. The highlight feature of the smartphone is its 5.7-inch QHD+ (1440x2880 pixels) FullVision display with an 18:9 (or 2:1) aspect ratio instead of industry standard (16:9). The LG G6 also has a lot to offer in the security section. If everything goes well, the 3D facial recognition software should become available as soon as June. LG is planning to deliver that when it launches LG Pay in June.
According to The Investor, a source told local news outlet News Prime: "Should LG utilize OezFR to support the payment system, it will be the first time for a facial recognition system to be used for financial transactions in the premium smartphone sector". This is despite the Samsung Galaxy S8, which features facial recognition software, but Galaxy S8 owners can't use the feature to authenticate with Samsung Pay.
Accuser's lawyer wants to depose Seattle mayor on May 2
In the statement, Murray admits it's been a "difficult week" for him and his family, and that he will continue to work as mayor. His lawyer and personal spokesman have contended the allegations are politically motivated.
The company said to choose the Oez solution as it could be easily implemented to previous smartphones like LG V20 and LG G5. While the Galaxy S8 has facial recognition software to unlock the phone, you won't be able to use it to buy goods.
However, unlike Samsung's version, the Oez software has "security measures" in place that can identify a picture, according to the report. More and more smartphone nowadays feature facial recognition.
Qualcomm files answer and counterclaims against Apple
CHIPMAKER Qualcomm has thrown some sass in the direction of Apple and has hit back at the firm with a counter lawsuit. Qualcomm said it was seeking damages from Apple for allegedly rowing back on "its promises in several agreements".
LG's latest handset launched in February, and while it has a similar, nearly full-face screen to the Galaxy S8, it missed out on the latest processor and other features such as iris scanning. There's no word, however, on how quickly the software can scan a face and how accurate it is when it's put into practice. This way, the software cannot be hacked with pictures.
