Nintendo sees Switch console doubling full-year profit

Kyoto-based Nintendo is aiming to sell 10 million Switch consoles in the current financial year, on top of 2.7 million units sold in March alone, the month of its global debut.

For the 12-month period beginning this month, Nintendo expects to see operating profit of Yen65 billion yen ($585 million) on revenue of Yen750 billion, the company said. The company called this "a promising start" while adding that flagship launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold 2.76 million units on the Switch as well as 1.08 million on the WiiU, for a total of 3.84 million units. Sales were down slightly, and operating income slightly lower, but ordinary profit jumped 75% from the last fiscal year.

Nintendo said Thursday it has sold 2.74 million Switch machines and 5.46 million units of Switch software since sales began in March.
