After spending weeks in French Polynesia - including time on the yacht of movie mogul David Geffen along with Bruce Springsteen, Tom Hanks, and Oprah Winfrey - Obama will return to Chicago on Monday for his first public event as a former president. Established in 2014, the Foundation planned to oversee the construction of the Obama Presidential Center on the South Side of Chicago, which would include the presidential library.

Obama will reportedly use his upcoming speaking engagement to address topics on civic engagement, diplomacy, civil rights, and nurturing the next generation of world leaders, according to The New York Times. Obama "was optimistic about their potential to positively contribute to their communities and support their families because of the services provided in the program", Lewis said.

More specifically, Obama will speak from the campus of the University of Chicago, where he previously taught constitutional law.

Rumors swirled that Hernandez didn't leave any notes, that there was blood on his cell wall and John 3:16 written on his forehead. Earlier Thursday, Hernandez's lawyer complained that state officials had turned over the 27-year-old's body but not his brain.

A source also said Obama does not intend to confront President Trump on policy.

More recently, Obama and his wife, Michelle, spent almost a month in French Polynesia.

But Monday's event, he said, is another important sign of the former president's strong links to Chicago. Brissett, who started two games for the Patriots this season and led them to a win over the Houston Texans in his National Football League debut, posted a thank-you note to Barack Obama, or "the Big O", as he called him, after his visit to the White House. This public event would mark the start of President Obama's public life after the official end of his term.

Several area schools were invited to join the conversation including University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Loyola University Chicago, and others.
