Patriots respond to comparison photo showing team with Obama versus Trump

Thirty-four Patriots players reportedly visited Washington D.C. on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate their improbable Super Bowl comeback victory over the Falcons in overtime. "In that same year a very good friend of mine for over 25 years, a man who is mentally tough and hard-working as anybody I know launched a campaign for the presidency against 16 career politicians facing odds nearly as long as we faced in the fourth quarter". But, according to the team, the picture from this year is misleading. "No team has been this good for this long".

But Brady said due to some "recent developments", he is unable to be there because he is "attending to some personal family matters".

Galynn Brady, Tom's mother, has been battling cancer and is now in Boston which may be the reason for his inability to attend the event.

Brady defended his friendship with Trump throughout the campaign, though avoided making any clear public declarations of political support. The New England Patriots are no strangers to this custom and on Wednesday they met with President Donald Trump. Hopefully, if we accomplish the goal of winning a championship in future years, we will be back on the South Lawn again soon.

Another group of players - running back LeGarrette Blount, defensive end Chris Long, defensive tackle Alan Branch and tight end Martellus Bennett - boycotted the ceremony because of Trump's policies.

Trump also has been close over the years with Patriots owner Bob Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick.

A total of 34 Patriots players attended the White House ceremony, the team told NFL Network's Kimberly Jones.

There are 64 players listed on the Patriots' active team roster, though it's unclear how many were invited.

Letterman spoke about how the band's history intersected with his own : "They were on my show 10 different times over the years". I was nearly 50 and even I was pissed off and it was also easy to dance to but that's another deal.

The celebration, however, was clouded by former Patriots player Aaron Hernandez's suicide in prison just hours before the team's visit.

Mr Spicer, who was clearly in shock at the National Football League star's sudden appearance, responded with: "I think I got this, but thank you".

The five-time Super Bowl champion has referred to President Trump as a friend and has said that he's "always had a good time with him".

Belichick indicated that this trip to the White House was even more special than his previous visits.

"I don't believe in excluding other people", free safety Devin McCourty explained in a video released at the end of last week. Hernandez was serving life in prison for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.
