Pres. Trump visits Kenosha for order signing

Trump signed the "Buy American, Hire American" order during his visit to the Snap-on Tools headquarters in Kenosha, Wis.

"We deserve a comprehensive review of the programs in place at each of our agencies to ensure that domestic industries obtain the maximum positive economic from Buy American programs", said Veal.

Now, what does Trump's BAHA order state?

This is his first trip since becoming president to the state that helped him clinch the election.

Officials from the Department of Justice warned in April that they will "not tolerate employers misusing the H-1B visa process to discriminate against US workers". The officials said that not only the foreign workers displace American workers, but also undercut wages.

Amid concerns over the US' changed H1B visa programme, India said today it was in touch with the Trump administration and making "full assessment" of its impact on Indian professionals.

Claiming that various worldwide trade deals have harmed America and that his supporters "voted to end the theft of American prosperity", the president noted that his new policy would "aggressively promote and use American-made goods and ... ensure that American labor is hired to do the job".

Trump Nominates Scott Brown As US Ambassador To New Zealand
The White House announced today that Scott Brown was the President Donald Trump's pick to serve as the Ambassador to New Zealand. Brown moved his residency to the Granite State three and a half years ago before launching a Senate run in New Hampshire in 2014.

Kurt Bauer, president of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, said limiting foreign worker visas could hurt companies that struggle to find qualified talent.

The officials said the order also seeks to strengthen requirements that American-made products be used in certain federal construction projects, as well as in various federal grant-funded transportation projects. The waivers could be renegotiated or revoked if they are not perceived as benefiting the United States.

Asked if he supports Baldwin's bill, Trump responded: "I do".

However, Jubbawy argued that the figures fail to account for the number of visa-holders who go on to start their own businesses and reinvest their earnings.

Up to 85,000 H-1B visas are issued annually by the US authorities, but demand has far outstripped supply in recent years, according to local media reports. The goal is said to be an eventual move away from the existing random lottery system to one that favours higher-skilled, higher-paid workers.

Many Trump-branded products are manufactured overseas: Trump eyeglasses - made in China.

The executive order aims to shift the visa program from a lottery system to targeting jobs with a high need for skilled workers. The staffing companies then sell their services to corporate clients.

Foreign work visas, which are also known as H-1B visas, are known to be very important to hiring practices of tech companies in the US such as Google, Microsoft and Apple.

The Union government has defended its foreign policy oriented towards job creation, and indicated that the latest measures taken by Australia and the USA will not curtail visas for Indian professionals.

There are dissenting voices from Democrats and Republicans in Congress, who claim Trump was too late in his decision to sign off an executive order with this year's batch of visas handed out. But he added, "It's not as aggressive as it needs to be".

At over 15 percent, Facebook had the highest percentage of H-1B contractors of any USA tech operating company.

"The effect would end up being exactly the opposite of what Trump wants", he said.
