USA intelligence has accused Moscow of waging a broad-ranging campaign to help Trump win the election.
Despite all these "misreadings", Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed his hopes on the improving of the relationships between the US and Russian Federation. They are preventing the new president from fulfilling his campaign promises on many issues: "health care, other issues, global relations, ties with Russia", Putin said in remarks at a forum in the northern Russian city of Arkhangelsk. Opposition leader Alexey Navalny and at least another 19 people received prison sentences of up to 15 days, mostly for disobeying police, according to human rights activists, in a crackdown condemned by the US and Europe.
United Nations chief: More funding needed for Iraq programs
He said the USA inquiry is looking at the possibility that the strike triggered a larger blast of Daesh-planted explosives. A US airstrike that may have killed scores or even hundreds of people in Mosul on March 17 may now tarnish that record.
Earlier in the day, Mr Putin was shown a video of an ice-breaking tanker docking for the first time at Russia's Arctic port of Sabetta to test a new route for ships carrying oil and liquefied gas, according to CBS News. "Do we want to completely cut diplomatic relations? We were at the same time able to almost double our country's GDP over the same period", he said. "Where do people behaving in such an irresponsible way want to take us all, including the American people". But he's there in order to be able to maintain contacts with people: the political elites, with Senate and Congress, with the government administration.
Peskov was referring to the Obama administration's December 2016 sanctions against Russian Federation after intelligence agencies said the country tried to influence the 2016 election. I don't think it's in the interests of the majority of the American people to bring US-Russian relations to absurdity for the sake of domestic politics.
Peskov also backed up Russian President Vladimir Putin's insistence a day earlier that the country has not tried hacking into US and European elections. "We further assess Putin and the Russian government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump", the Office of the Director of National Intelligence report said.
Intelligence committee turns down Gen Flynn's immunity request
And the White House claims this routine monitoring of communications revealed the identities of some of the Trump transition team. The White House was not aware of Flynn's relationship with Inovo, the firm that hired him to promote Turkey in the U.S.
He noted that one of the ways to facilitate an improvement in the countries' relations was to organize a meeting between Putin and Trump.
"Positions and suggestions of those who don't agree with their opponents are not so stupid", Putin said.
