A system of storms will affect Alabama, Georgia and SC before moving into the OH and Tennessee valleys, according to the National Weather Service. Severe threat with this initial round of rain will be low, but a few strong storms are possible.
The National Weather Service is urging Alabamians to be prepared for Wednesday's weather event.
All modes are possible with this system to include damaging winds, large hail, heavy rainfall, and tornadoes. Anywhere from 11pm to 6am will have a good threat for severe thunderstorms which could include damaging winds over 60 miles per hour and even some tornadoes.
However, scattered to numerous severe storms are still nothing to fool around with, and the impacts expected are still largely the same. Tuscaloosa and surrounding areas have a slight risk of severe storms, meaning that brief tornadoes and damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour are possible.

An initial round of storms across the Southeast produced one large tornado and reports of more than a half-dozen smaller twisters. Forecasters say damaging winds are expected to take form in Alabama and Georgia as storms continue to sweep across the South.
After Monday's storms move offshore, more storms could hit the region Wednesday and Thursday.
The NWS issued warnings, watches and advisories related to floods and winds in east Kansas, southwest Missouri, east Oklahoma, Arkansas, northeast Texas and the western half of Louisiana. In addition, 50 National Guard soldiers will be activated for preparation and response operations.
