"When we are clear about what our values are. that's when we are at our best", Perez said.

"What I see and hear is a lot more pain and a lot more discontent than you see on television or you read in the paper", the Vermont senator said, describing one woman's account of experiencing poverty and hunger throughout her childhood and college education.

The second night of the tour, MSNBC's Chris Hayes asked Perez in a joint interview with Sanders if the party supports a single-payer Medicare for All health care system that Sanders supports and is reintroducing in the Senate in a few weeks.

"It is true that the Democratic party should have put more resources into that election", Sanders said on CNN on Sunday. He's not a Democrat, and only identified as such to compete for the party's nomination in 2016.

"Bernie Sanders is a self-avowed socialist and Mello's embracing him will push every conservative voter to Mayor Stothert", a Stothert spokesman tells News Channel Nebraska.

His last few memorable screen outings were in Salman Khan's "Dabangg" series and Shah Rukh Khan's " Dilwale " in 2015. He was universally praised for his role and some say the underrated film contains the best acting of his career.

Sanders' team sued the DNC over voter rolls, and his campaign manager called for the former party chair to resign.

That's the history. Whether the party is able to confront it and negotiate the future in goodwill is less certain.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will headline a Louisville event aimed at helping re-energize Kentucky's downtrodden Democratic Party.

The packed rally Tuesday night was just the second that Sanders and Perez have scheduled together this week in battleground and red states across the country, including Texas, Nevada, Nebraska and Utah.

But like most road trips, there have been some bumps along the way.

Merkley: Trump doesn't have clear plan for N Korea
He said the United States had "a lot of preemptive options", but declined to provide specifics. China will take "necessary measures to defend our own interests", he promised.

Portland, the bluest dot in a state that has trended Republican in recent years, is the launchpad for a weeklong Sanders/Perez campaign tour.

Sanders is a rock star with the type of progressives who are wary of the DNC. "We have millions of people who are living in pain", he said.

"We can succeed only to the extent that we have strong parties across this country", Perez said.

DETROW: So why is Tom Perez traveling across America with someone so critical of the Democratic Party?

Still he said he is "thrilled" that the party is making some of the changes. But Bernie Sanders hasn't exactly been showering the Democratic Party with love this week. "Working class families in our city are looking for a new leadership, and that's why I'm so excited to speak about my vision for Omaha alongside Senator Sanders and Chairman Perez". Rather than learn a lesson from that, Perez and Sanders are taking the same confused act on tour, and that lack of insight might transform it from a political effort to a comic performance-art piece. We need to unite! In the process, opponents are calling into question Sanders' status as a pro-choice politician, his commitment to women's rights and how progressive his agenda really is, which could also backfire on the Democrats as they try to use Sanders' popularity and message of a "bold" era of progressivism to bolster the party during the 2018 midterm elections and beyond. Sanders told the crowd. The crowd gave him a standing ovation.

If the deal is finalized as expected, it would mark a big milestone in the long development process that started last summer. Fincher has not directed a feature film since 2014's Gone Girl , having turned his attention to the small screen of late.
