It premiered a fortnight ago and has become the most widely shared streaming show on social media ever.
"13 Reasons Why" may be a show based on a fictional character, but the subject matter is all too real.
The series, which follows a fictional book of the same name, is the story of high school student Hannah Baker, who committed suicide. She leaves behind 13 tapes, each dedicated to a person that drove her to commit suicide and forcing each to pass the tapes along to the people mentioned. Throughout the show, she is raped, bullied, traumatized and ostracized. The 23-year-old actor from Tennessee has been in the business since 2008, but was most recently in the teacher comedy Those Who Can't, where he played a character also named Bryce. I don't know whether or not the creators went out of their way to avoid talking about such issues, but the fact that they don't just comes off as disappointingly irresponsible. It frightens me that this show has not created a narrative that creates a different stigma around suicide. During the scene when Hannah takes her own life and her parents find her body, I squirmed, squealed, covered my eyes, hid behind a pillow and swore loudly at the television.

It is also at the top of the range (18.50 to 20 USD) proposed by Virtu when the company made an unsolicited bid on 15 March 2017. Virtu expects the deal, which is seen closing during the third quarter, to eventually boost earnings per share by 25%.
"It made me feel sad, but it was also eye-opening", first-year Julia Gillies said. "So I'd love to see it", Asher shared with Entertainment Weekly. It is a scary mental health issue that can have serious consequences, and the show demonstrates that.
"13 Reasons Why" has many strengths. According to reports, a number of people in Australia are now seeking professional help after watching the show. "It seemed to me the flawless opportunity to show what an actual suicide really looks like - to dispel the myth of the quiet drifting off, and to make viewers face the reality of what happens when you jump from a burning building into something much, much worse".
In the show's final episode, viewers were confronted with the suicide itself. This is to stop what we call "copycat" crimes, where someone takes inspiration from an article or TV show for their own suicide. When we show those kinds of things in film or even in writing and we nearly glorify it, unfortunately, kids start to see that as an answer - a way of teaching people a lesson.

I have to accept it. "I just keep in mind to myself that I think I have got the third- or fourth-best win record in the Premier League".
Whispers fill the hallway as everyone talks about the latest gossip, whether it's the party over the weekend, the hard physics exam or the death of Hannah Baker.
Which is why Claire hopes teens use it not as a reason to die by suicide, but as a catalyst to talk to their parents, friends and schools.
"If you have seen it, it seems more attainable".
