Aunt Jemima frozen pancakes, waffles, French toast recalled


Aunt Jemima frozen pancakes, waffles and French toast are being recalled by a New Jersey-based food company due to concerns of listeria contamination, the Associated Press reported. There is a notice of the recall of Aunt Jemima frozen breakfast products on the company's Facebook page.

Pinnacle Foods issued the recall Friday night after tests detected Listeria monocytogenes in their facilities.

The Canada-wide recall was triggered by a US recall that also extended to the brand's Frozen Pancakes, according to a press release from New Jersey-based Pinnacle Foods Inc., which i the parent for Aunt Jemima.

Other Aunt Jemima products, such as dry mixes, are not affected. All packaged products with a "Best By" date are being recalled.

"All affected distributors and retail and food service customers are being notified and the affected products are being removed from store shelves". Healthy adults might suffer only flu-like symptoms, pain in the abdomen and diarrhea. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
