Climate envoys meet in Bonn despite Trump threat over Paris deal

Trump and his top climate and economic aids will kick-off discussions in earnest on Tuesday in the US, a senior administration official said, adding that "they are meeting tomorrow at 1.30 pm".

"The US remains a party to the agreement and this implies that of course they have the right to have a seat at the table and to participate in all the discussions", UNFCCC executive secretary Patricia Espinosa told AFP. A startlingly loud alarm clock will be rung to wake up hotel guests.

United Nations climate talks began in German city of Bonn on Monday aimed at combating global warming.

Trump has promised to announce a decision before a Group of Seven summit at the end of May, but the White House official did not say when the meeting would be rescheduled.

Here's why LaVar Ball was so upset with Kristine Leahy
Leahy probed Ball about the "Baller" in Big Baller Brand and asked if maybe the term left women out of the buyer demographic. Leahy mentioned that the company would probably see more sales if the brand was marketed to both men and women.

"I would rather wait until a decision has been taken", she said.

Reports suggest Ivanka Trump will chair the meeting.

"We're going to cancel the Paris Climate Agreement and stop all payments of USA tax dollars to United Nations global warming programs", Trump said in a speech in North Dakota on the campaign trail in 2016.

Under the shadow of a possible U.S. pullout from the 2015 Paris climate accord, envoys are meeting in Germany on implementing the details of the deal.

Amid uncertainties over future of the United States participation in the Paris Agreement, climate negotiators from across the globe, including India, on Monday initiated talks in Bonn, Germany to develop necessary guidelines needed to fully implement the global deal through their agreed post-2020 actions. Not only did newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron mention climate change in his short victory speech on Sunday night, he has made it clear that he welcomes such research in France. Under the agreement, the USA pledged to cut its greenhouse gas emission by 26 to 28 percent from 2005 levels by 2025. But the gathering risks being hamstrung over fears that the United States, the world's number two carbon polluter, will pull out and throw the agreement into disarray.

Officials are working over 10 days of talks in Bonn to see how to implement the agreement in order to cut carbon emissions. "We're still in for bold climate action".

The Trump administration has yet to decide whether it intends to withdraw from the worldwide roadmap for addressing climate change.

Even fossil fuel giants including Shell and ExxonMobil are expressing support for the Paris agreement in the lead up to the administration's decision, with the latter calling it "an effective framework for addressing climate change". "That is not the American way", said Pyle.
