Tel Aviv - Israel showed off its new F-35 stealth fighter jets recently delivered from the United States on Tuesday as part of an air show marking its annual Independence Day celebrations. "But my goal is to have no votes in UNESCO on Israel".

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) has passed yet another critical resolution on Jerusalem, prompting a backlash from Israel but celebration from Palestinians. "More countries opposed this resolution than previous year and fewer countries supported it".

The resolution is reportedly drafted with the help of Germany, which also led efforts for the vote's timing.

Most European countries abstained, while Greece, the UK, Italy and Lithuania voted against.

Citing ongoing Israeli settlement expansion in East Jerusalem, Qanou called on the Muslim world and the global community to recognize and practice the terms of the resolution. UNESCO tries to deny the fact that Jerusalem is a Jewish city, therefore, "we deny UNESCO", he said.
