A Minnesota judge has named Prince's sister and five half-siblings as the heirs to the musician's estate, more than a year after the superstar's death, the Star Tribune reported.

More than 45 people filed claims to be Prince's family members in the wake of his passing previous year, with some claims of heirship to be his wife, children, siblings or extended relatives still pending.

The judge also said Prince's assets won't be distributed that might unfavourably affect any pending appeals.

The judge had previously said he wouldn't declare the siblings as heirs until those appeals had been decided. Other documents released Friday show that Universal Music Group and Comerica Bank, the manager of Prince's estate, are moving ahead with plans to terminate the $31 million recorded-music deal announced earlier this year. Lawyers for the siblings didn't want to wait, though, saying further delays would increase costs to the estate and impede its efficient administration. The siblings' attorneys didn't immediately reply to phone calls seeking comment.

Some individuals whose claims of heirship were rejected have filed appeals.

No one will ever know what Prince wanted done with his estate after he passed away because he didn't leave a will. The six-song EP "Deliverance" had been scheduled to be released on the first anniversary of Prince's death.
