Team India announced for Champions Trophy


India's cricket board on Sunday approved the country's participation in the Champions Trophy, ending speculation about the team staying away from the tournament because of a financial dispute with the International Cricket Council. Dhawan is not a regular member of the Indian team in all formats and in fact has only played two global matches - ODIs against England - in the past six months.

The BCCI is furious over the ICC's decision last month to amend rules so that less money and power is held by cricket's major powers - England, India and Australia.

The 15-member squad unveiled by chief selector MSK Prasad contained no real surprises. He would have the support of MS Dhoni who will play in this tournament as a wicket-keeper batsman. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are youngsters we've been grooming.

The seventh batsman's slot is expected to be taken by Manish Pandey.
