The New York Yankees Retire Derek Jeter's #2 Jersey


The ceremony took place prior to the team's loss to the Houston Astros in front of some of the future Hall of Famer's former teammates, managers and coaches, starting outside Monument Park where the franchise unveiled his retired No. 2 while the sellout crowd chanted his name.

More than a dozen former New York Yankees, of course including the rest of the Core Four, were at Yankee Stadium Sunday night to see Derek Jeter get his No. 2 retired.

Along with honoring Jeter with a lengthy tribute video, the Yankees dedicated his number and his career accomplishments on a plaque at the Monument Park.

He was also a 14-time All-Star, won five Gold Gloves, was named the World Series MVP in 2000 and AL Rookie of the Year in 2016.
