Trump denies telling Comey to back off Flynn investigation

Some Republicans in US Congress are beginning to distance themselves from President Donald Trump amid allegations that he shared intel with Russian Federation, sparking speculation that more Republican lawmakers may follow.

A number of Democrats have begun floating the idea of impeaching Trump in the wake of revelations that he asked former FBI Director James Comey to drop an investigation into his former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

The Times reported that Comey wrote the memo immediately after meeting with Trump on February 14, one day after Flynn was asked to resign.

Asked at a Wednesday conference if he could hypothetically conceive of a similar conversation between former President George W. Bush and a top law enforcement official about an ongoing criminal investigation, former Attorney General Michael Mukasey was emphatic.

The US president is quoted as saying: "I hope you can let this go".

Still, Lighthizer said reforming the trade agreement fulfilled one of Trump's "key promises to the American people". Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said Wednesday they "made a lot of progress in getting toward the 90-day letter".

"Everybody, even my enemies, have said there was no collusion", Trump added, even though some Democrats have voiced concerns about possible collusion and suggested a thorough investigation was necessary.

"I think the shot to the body is it's now considered a criminal investigation, and Congress' ability to conduct investigations into all things Russian Federation has been severely limited", Sen.

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller, who served under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, will lead that investigation. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), told reporters after the meeting, an account backed up by Sen.

And Hensarling said, "I disagree with partisan suggestions that we should somehow skip the investigation and just move on to punitive measures. He can take care of himself", the Colombian president said.

The day after the Department of Justice appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as a special counsel to the congressional investigations into Democrats' claims of Russian interference in U.S. elections, Trump said he respected the decision, but added: "I think that divides the country". "Zero", Trump said, adding, "My total priority, believe me, is the United States of America".

Brazil's President Temer Refuses To Resign Amid Bribery Scandal
President Temer confirms meeting with one of the founders of slaughterhouse JBS but denies having bought Cunha's silence. Many Brazilians expressed shock on social media when Temer finally spoke Thursday night and said he would stay in power.

But while some members of Congress have called for outside investigations and deemed the memo a possibly impeachable offense, Louisiana's Republican delegation members said it was too early to make that call.

Chaffetz's move came the morning after he wrote the Federal Bureau of Investigation demanding memos and notes that Comey reportedly compiled after several meetings and phone calls with Trump.

Trump is leaving Friday for his first foreign trip, to the Mideast and beyond, which aides hope can have the effect of refocusing a White House in disarray.

"I think the real issue and what I would like to see debated more is that our national security has been put at risk by those violating confidentiality", McMaster said of The Washington Post reporters who first broke the news, according to Insider.
