According to eyewitness, Israeli forces raided the houses of three Palestinians who were killed after carrying out shooting and stabbing attacks in East Jerusalem on Friday. Hadas Malka, 23, was stabbed to death.

Two Palestinians were shot dead after opening fire at and trying to stab a group of Israeli police officers at one scene, police said.

Israeli media reported that in one of the incidents, close to Damascus Gate, the attackers rushed at a group of border guards, with one brandishing a homemade submachine gun, which jammed.

With eight days remaining of Ramadan, Israeli security forces are reassessing the situation in an effort to keep the area safe for all residents and visitors to the city. Other officers opened fire, killing the attacker.

Rosenfeld added that thousands of people attended Malka's funeral in Ashdod Saturday night, including Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, Israel Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich, the head of the Border Police, MKs, officers, and family and friends.

The Israeli security services also raised doubts about the veracity of the IS claim, its first for an attack in Jerusalem or inside Israel, which came with the group facing defeat in their Iraq and Syria bastions.

The COGAT spokesperson said that permits granted to Palestinians for Friday visits to Al Aqsa mosque were not included in the 250,000 permits that were canceled.

"A proposal was made, and the topic is still in the stages of study and discussion", a spokesperson for the Israeli police said.

Israel accuses the Palestinian establishment of inciting the violence, including by glorifying attackers and supporting their families. Family members of the attackers said they were deeply religious men who acted on their own.

Palestinians say it stems from anger over decades of Israeli rule in territories they claim for their future state.
