Last week, 76 inmates escaped from a prison in Jambi province after floodwaters caused its fence to collapse.
Bali police are investigating whether an Australian man and three other foreigners who tunnelled out of Kerobokan prison were helped by guards, other prisoners or someone on the outside.
Prison officers became aware of the escape while conducting a morning check of inmates at the Kerobokan penitentiary in Bali's capital, Denpasar, said Putu Ika Prabawa, an officer at Bali's Kuta Utara police station.
Prison governor Tony Nainggolan said police launched a search and believed the men were still in Bali.
Shaun Edward Davidson, from Perth, was serving a 12-month sentence after being convicted in September a year ago of using fraudulent travel documents.

Nainggolan said authorities believed the escapees had planned the escape for some time.

The four were serving terms for a mix of drug and fraud offences at the Kerokoban Prison.
The four men were serving sentences for different crimes, from immigration rules violation to drug crimes, Widjaja said.
Badung Police chief, Yudith Satriya Hananta, said police had put a ban on any of the four escapees from exiting Bali through any travel gates.
