India, Pakistan become full members of SCO

China and India should work together to address sensitive issues and help each other in meeting developmental goals, Chinese President Xi Jinping told Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

He said that it was impossible to reach a solution till all countries made concerted efforts to fight radicalisation, terrorist recruitment, training and financing.

Zarif also held separate meetings with Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev.

"We have extensive cooperation with SCO nations".

"As for the economic aspects, I am sure that we must focus on combining efforts, coordination of national strategies and multilateral projects throughout the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation".

On the sidelines of the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met Chinese and Uzbek President Li Jinping and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, respectively, and discussed bi-lateral ties with them. "The admission will ensure greater peace and economic cooperation of the region", Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev said during the opening of the SCO Summit. On Tuesday, Ghani had accused Pakistan of waging an "undeclared war of aggression'" against Afghanistan as he launched a so-called Kabul Process aiming to set the stage for peace talks and clinch an global pact to end "cross-border terrorism".

The Prime Minister thanked the Chinese leadership for its cooperation in helping India get entry into the SCO.

The two leaders also discussed Bollywood film "Dangal" amidst a detailed discussion on cultural cooperation. As SCO members, India and Pakistan troops may jointly take part in anti-terrorism exercises, which is an irony considering that their membership of Saarc has done little to rein in terrorism.

China has also been upset with India for hosting the Dalai Lama and allowing the Tibetan spiritual leader to visit Arunachal Pradesh, large parts of which Beijing considers as part of southern Tibet.

Sharif met the presidents of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Russian Federation, but a meeting with Xi Jinping was notably missing.
