More than 26 hurt as flight by Chinese airline hits turbulence


"At least 20 ppl injured after a China Eastern plane ran into turbulence during flight from Paris to Kunming on Sunday", tweeted People's China Daily.

A number of passengers were thrown from their seats and some were hurt by falling luggage, causing bone fractures, scalp lacerations, soft tissue injuries and other light wounds, according to the passengers and hospitals.

At least 26 people were injured, four of them seriously, when a China Eastern Airlines flight from Paris hit turbulence on Sunday over southwest China, state media said.

The Flight MU744 from Charles de Gaulle Airport was descending to land at Kunming Changshui International Airport in Kunming in Yunnan province.

The plane, an Airbus A330-200 twinjet, landed without incident and there were no injuries, according to Kathy Zhang, general manager for the Oceania region at the airlines.

This latest incident involving China Eastern happened a week after another plane in the fleet - which was bound for Shanghai - diverted because of a huge hole in a part of its left engine. "All passengers and crew members were landed safely", she said.
