Sarah Sanders: Donald Trump Has 'No Intention' of Firing Robert Mueller

DAVID MUIR: And while Attorney General Jeff Sessions was testifying on Capitol Hill, President Trump was on a road trip to talk about jobs in this country, but following him to Wisconsin, this question tonight: Is the President now considering firing special prosecutor Robert Mueller who is now overseeing the Russian Federation investigation?

Those calls have escalated since fired FBI Director Comey cryptically told lawmakers last week that the bureau had expected Sessions to recuse himself weeks before he did from the investigation into contacts between Trump campaign associates and Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential election. And on Tuesday, aboard Air Force One, White House deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders addressed the idea of firing Mueller with these words: "while the President has the right to, he has no intention to do so".

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said in separate testimony Tuesday that there was no "secret plan" to fire Mueller, nor was there cause.

The meeting comes a day after lawmakers questioned Justice Department officials about the probe and Mueller's independence, and after a friend of Trump said the White House was considering firing Mueller.

Spieth never wandered into negative numbers on the front nine, posting only two birdies the entire day (he has six on the week). The Englishman shot a one-under 71 but had to fight back from two bogeys and a triple bogey in his first six holes.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich led one line of attack with a tweet that said "Republicans are delusional if they think the special counsel is going to be fair".

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said she was "increasingly concerned" that Trump will fire both Mueller and Rosenstein.

Trump's Twitter response followed days of intensifying criticism of Mueller from some conservatives who have charged the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director and his team with political bias and have claimed his relationship to Comey and an earlier meeting with Trump amount to conflicts of interest. If accurate, the report would also indicate Trump still has no understanding of the position the appointment of a special counsel has placed him in.

SCOTT PELLEY: Well, after Comey was sacked, the Justice Department named former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel to independently investigate the Russian Federation case.

Super teams have formed, championships have been won and the league has changed its entire identity during Silver's tenure. The Warriors made one of the great playoff runs of all time . "From my eyes, they're built to last a few years".

Criticism of special counsel Robert Mueller used to be off limits. Trump is said to be proud of yesterday's not-so-nimble refusal to pledge support to Mueller, seeing it as an artfully tactical ploy aimed at steering the investigation toward his desired outcome of total, public exoneration.

A heightened sense of unease has gripped the White House after US President Donald Trump lashed out at reports that he is under scrutiny over whether he had obstructed justice.

Comey testified last week that he also felt pressured to drop the Flynn probe.

The order from the general counsel for the transition team casts a wide net on documents that could shed light on ties between Trump's presidential campaign and representatives of Russia's government. The reason he gave is that it could be "within the scope of Director Mueller's investigation" and that "we don't want people talking publicly about open investigations", he said.

This week, so far, you've had to make birdies your friends, even if the course is playing 7,800-plus yards. It's a nice comeback for Casey after he triple bogeyed the par-5 14th and shot 38 on the back nine.
