Shahbaz Sharif says biased JIT targetting his family


He said those levelling corruption allegations would not be able to find anything as "their allegations are shallow", adding that by respecting judiciary, the political stature of the Sharif family had further increased.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday took on the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), saying it was pursuing a Panamagate case filed against the Sharif family in a biased manner.

Sharif's family has acknowledged owning offshore businesses, but says it was done with legal money.

On Thursday, the prime minister appeared before the JIT for three hours after being summoned to answer questions and record his statement. The Supreme Court has been pretty clear about its no-nonsense approach towards the JIT, even if the honourable court itself left a little something to be desired while investigating the case - strangely not asking for the money trail of said Panama companies, even though it is the first port of call in such cases.
