Surprise: Texas Republicans love Trump and Democrats don't, new poll shows

"The new Rasmussen Poll, one of the most accurate in the 2016 Election, just out with a Trump 50% Approval Rating. That's higher than O's #'s!"

Health care remains Trump's worst issue in the poll, with 66 per cent disapproving of his handling of the issue. Rasmussen's findings vary drastically from what Gallup has been showing. The percentage of Republicans who strongly approved of Trump's presidential performance decreased 12 points, from 60 percent in February to 48 points in June.

The man then got out of the auto and assaulted the victim, Fairfax County Police Officer Tawny Wright said in a press conference. Fairfax County Police are leading the investigation in the incident because it began as a missing person case in Fairfax.

While the president entered the White House with relative unpopularity, the AP noted, his dwindling approval numbers and perceived disrespect for the country's institutions show mounting challenges for Trump as he seeks to cast himself as a unifying figure.

The other source of potential weakening support for Trump, which stretches back to the presidential campaign, are his personal qualities. Trump will visit Waukesha County Technical College and also appear at a political fundraiser.

Donald Trump celebrated his approval rating finally climbing to 50 percent Friday, but the full picture is a lot less rosy for the increasingly besieged president. Of those who said the Russians were influential - a group overwhelmingly dominated by Democrats - 95 percent said the Russian influence helped Trump and 2 percent said it helped Hillary Clinton. Among Democrats, 90 percent disapprove. "Texas Republicans are holding steady", said Jim Henson, co-director of the poll and head of the Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas at Austin.

While 51 percent of Democrats hold a favorable opinion of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, 43 percent of Republicans share that view. Overall, 11 percent of Texans have favorable views of that country and 56 percent have unfavorable views.

Given the mutually reinforcing effects of partisan polarization in the electorate and the intensity of both positive and negative feelings toward Trump, it is no surprise that the poll reveals that Democratic attitudes are the opposite, with the qualification that they are slightly more negative than the Republicans are positive. Among Republicans, 15 percent were positive, 45 percent were negative and 40 percent were neutral. Of the House proposal, 20 percent of Texas voters hold a favorable view and 51 percent have an unfavorable view.
