The White House has denied any collusion, and Trump has repeatedly complained about the probe, saying Democrats can not accept his election win.Several congressional panels are also investigating the Russian Federation issue, which has cast a shadow over the early months of Trump's presidency.
Mr. Trump's morning tweets included what seemed like a jab at former FBI Director Robert Mueller, the new Special Counsel for the Russian Federation probe, as he said the investigation was being "led by some very bad and conflicted people!"
Rosenstein is the Justice Department official who was put in charge of any matters relating to Russian collusion or interference with the 2016 USA presidential elections, after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself in March.
If true, the investigation represents an expansion of Mr Mueller's original probe into links between Moscow and the 2016 Trump presidential election campaign.

Deputy Attorney-General Rod Rosenstein submitted a widely circulated memo to the President last month raising concerns over Mr Comey's performance, but Mr Trump later asserted that he had already made the decision himself to fire Mr Comey.
Mueller is the person Rosenstein appointed to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
Mr Rosenstein wrote a memo criticising former Federal Bureau of Investigation chief James Comey's handling of the email server scandal that was initially used by the White House to justify the firing of Mr Comey.
The Post reported that Mueller and his team are interviewing senior intelligence officials about Trump's role.
A spokesperson for NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers said the "NSA will fully cooperate with the special counsel".

Rosenstein penned a letter outlining why he thought Comey could be let go, a letter the president reportedly asked him to write. This week, Rosenstein assured members of Congress he would not remove Mueller - except for good cause .
In a later tweet, the President once again called the Russian Federation investigation a "witch hunt" and called the people leading it "very bad", apparently a reference to Mueller and others at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
In an interview with NBC's Lester Holt on May 11, Trump said he was "going to fire [Comey] regardless of recommendation" from Rosenstein and Sessions.
Investigators were also looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates. "Sad!" Mr. Trump said on Twitter.
While a sitting president is unlikely to face criminal prosecution, obstruction of justice could form the basis for impeachment.
In response to the report, Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Trump's personal attorney Marc Kasowitz, said: "The FBI leak of information regarding the President is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal".
