Neymar's off? Barcelona bid £72m for Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho

Fernando Torres had to wait six months before joining Chelsea, and although Raheem Sterling instantly got his move to Manchester City, despite Liverpool's initial reluctance to sell, privately the Merseyside club never sounded too robust in its resistance as they put a £50m price on his services.

Recent developments have seen Liverpool reject a £72million bid from the Spanish giants for the No.10 and Klopp is standing firm in his stance towards the situation.

But Reds boss Klopp has insisted Coutinho, who signed a new five-year contract in January to make him the club's highest-paid player, is not for sale.

"Yes (he is not for sale), but that's not since this morning or yesterday, it's not been any different", said Klopp.

Nothing is yet decided, there's still the time-trial but I think the Tour is already a success , I showed up in the mountains. Uran and Bardet trail the leader by 27 seconds. "I tried to drop Bardet and Uran, but it was nearly impossible today".

'We believe in working together and developing together. "That's the best news actually and then we'll see who can bring into the squad", the former Borussia Dortmund coach added.

"We want to work together, we want to make the next step together and for this we need to stay together".

"Other players you can keep them in training and hide them a bit, but Phil, when he's able to run properly you want to have him on the pitch again so he has to be better even in moments like this".

"Phil can improve, he has inconsistency, but there's no doubting his qualities". He's in good shape, good games, good movement, very smart in both parts of the game, offensively and defensively.

With Mohamed Salah already having signed for the Reds in a £36.9 million deal from AS Roma and Liverpool submitting huge bids for Naby Keïta, it's clear that Klopp is doing all he can to improve his side.

"I'm not surprised that any club is interested in players, if it is like this".

"The nice news for us is that he's still young".

Coutinho's main creative ally in Klopp's Liverpool line-up, England global Adam Lallana, believes his team-mate is happy on Merseyside - even if he does possess the quality to shine on Barcelona's grand stage.
