Associated Press has been asking around about the Rey figure this week, and while Hasbrohas said that the figure's already been made, the piece wasn't made available for Star Wars Lego sets in the USA because of a lack of demand.

More than a year after promising fans it'd update the Star Wars Monopoly game to include Daisy Ridley's character Rey, Hasbro still hasn't released a new version. "But it was not sold in the U.S." due to insufficient interest" from retailers. You still can't be Rey in Star Wars Monopoly and we are upset. The Rey piece had been made available in five other markets including France and United Kingdom. Hasbro has reportedly sent 99 Rey tokens to fans who've requested for it in the U.S. and then 10 in Canada.

It's been a year and a half since Hasbro, the toymaker behind the beloved Monopoly board game, promised that Rey would be added as a playable character by the end of 2016. Let's hope she finally makes it. All four game pieces were modeled on male characters: Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Finn and Kylo Ren.

"We love the passion fans have for Rey, and are happy to announce that we will be making a running change to include her in the Monopoly: Star Wars game available later this year", Duffy told the AP at the time.

In order to obtain one of the Rey figures, people who had purchased the game can elect to call in to Hasbro's customer service line to request one, with presently only 99 such requests for the Rey token noted in the USA and 10 in Canada.

And really, it's an unacceptable reason to not have the main character in the game.

As to why Rey was not featured in the original 2015 version of the game, the company explains that it was to "avoid revealing a key plot line" of the then-unreleased The Force Awakens. "It awakens in her!" J.J. Abrams, director of The Force Awakens, called the omission "preposterous", leading to a claim from Lucasfilm that she was left out of the game because they didn't want any spoilers about her character leaking before the movie was released.

Henry said that when his 6-year-old daughter plays "Star Wars" on XBox she usually chooses a female character such as Rey or Princess Leia but she doesn't have that choice with Monopoly: Star Wars. "'Star Wars" may be more of a male kind of film.
