Tejashwi Yadav dismisses BJP's calls for resignation


Amid rumours of a possible rift between Lalu Yadav led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Janata Dal (United) on Saturday said that deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav should have shown the basic courtesy to meet Nitish who is the boss and explain himself, according to a report by The Indian Express.

Lalu Yadav's son Tejashwi has been named by the CBI in a disproportionate assets case and the RJD has repeatedly made it clear that he won't resignation as the case was a conspiracy hatched by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

However, the development that threatens the image of the Government, has put Nitish Kumar under pressure prompting his party to create a distance with the RJD. On Monday, Mr Yadav brushed aside questions on growing demands for his resignation. Party senior leader Sushil Kumar Modi said the JD (U) should resolve its differences with the RJD of Lalu Prasad on the issue of Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav. Mr Yadav's nameplate on the dias was first covered with a cloth, apparently by Mr Kumar's party JD-U, and then finally removed.

They rushed to the opposition leader's chamber to greet the BJP leaders, before standing in the queue to vote.

Though none of the top JD (U) leaders gave any statement, party MLA Shyam Sunder Singh said, "It would be better if our party decides to break the alliance today".

"Over a dozen legislators have cast their votes", an official said.
