Before leaving the USA, the President insisted the White House is "functioning perfectly" despite an investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 which continues to dog his administration. The media channels and the public is widely debating the allegations that Russian Federation helped the Republican ascend to the White House.

If Trump, as scheduled, holds a press conference with Macron on Thursday, it's nearly certain he will be called upon - or volunteer - to address the meeting and the wider issue of alleged collusion with the Russians.

Mr Trump came to his son's defence on Wednesday, praising Donald Trump Jr's performance in an interview on Fox News Channel.

Many took it as a sign of icy relations between the 71-year old American and the 39-year old Frenchman, who have different views on seemingly everything, especially after Trump praised Macron's opponent Marine Le Pen in the French presidential election.

The first day of the visit is due to conclude with a dinner at the Jules Verne restaurant on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. Like Trump, Macron is newly elected and assumes leadership as a political outsider.

The leaders will most likely avoid the issues that they do not agree upon, such as Trump's decision to pull the US out of the Paris climate accord. But the French government has emphasised its newly-minted leader will work to reaffirm "historic ties" between the two allies and prevent the United States from "being isolated".

US President Donald Trump arrived in France on Thursday morning at the Orly airport south of Paris at the start of a two-day visit.

Mr Trump arrived in the French capital after an overnight flight from Washington and hours before his meeting with Mr Macron to tackle potential solutions to the crisis in Syria and broader counter-terrorism strategies. "That being said, it does not prevent us from cooperating in many fields", Macron said Saturday.

Trump's stop in Paris is created to mark the 100th anniversary of the United States' entry into World War I, and the security theme will carry over in talks between the leaders, which the White House said would center on Syria and counterterrorism efforts.

Trump recently crossed paths with Macron at the G-20 summit in Hamburg, Germany. In 1917, hundred thousands of boys from United States chose to come in Europe and died in Europe for our freedom.

Shortly after Air Force One touched down at Paris' Orly airport Thursday, the U.S leader went into meetings with USA embassy personnel and US military officials.

Macron, an unapologetic globalist, doesn't agree with Trump's nationalist, anti-trade stance, and the young pro-European Union president differs with Trump's closed borders, anti-refugee positions.

London's offer of a state visit for Trump has been met fierce criticism and warnings that he would be greeted by mass protests in the UK.

A Republican source said Trump was angry that what he considered a successful visit to Poland and Germany last week was overshadowed by Russian Federation. We still live in a unsafe world. On Saturday, Mr. Trump is scheduled to attend France's Bastille Day celebration.

The official affirmed that he expects President Trump to address that in his remarks, adding, "the fact that we participated in such a major way in World War I, side by side with the French, is a clear parallel to what we're doing today".

Trump and Macron had several interactions at the G20 last week and while the two are holding a bilateral meeting during President Trump's trip to France, the administration official indicated that the primary goal of the trip is to commemorate the 100th anniversary.
