Jack Wilshere sent off for Arsenal's u23s as tempers fray

Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer.

The midfielder reacted badly to a late challenge from counterpart Matt Smith, squaring up to the City player and pushing him to the ground.

In the ensuing fracas the City defender Tyreke Wilson ran to the centre circle to confront Wilshere, the two players grappling each other round the neck before team-mates became involved in shoving and tempers boiled over.

Wilshere, who spent last season on loan with Bournemouth, is making his latest comeback from a fractured leg and has played twice for the Under-23s.

After the situation calmed down, the referee showed reds to both Wilshere and Wilson as the north London club eventually held on to win 4-3.

"Well, that was eventful", he wrote on his Instagram account.

Wilshere has just one year remaining on his contract, and the 2017/18 season could be his make-or-break year after an Arsenal career that has been blighted by injuries so far.

Although Wilshere won't be suspended for any senior matches as a result, it does cast some doubt on whether he is ready to step back into Arsene Wenger's first team in the coming weeks.

Manager Arsene Wenger, however, has claimed that the two-time FA Cup victor still remains part of his first-team plans.
