OMEN X Laptop is HP's first overclockable portable gaming rig

What's that, you're not keen on overclocking a laptop?

The only distinction HP wants you to make between a high-end desktop and its Omen X laptop is the form factor.

Stay tuned for our full review of the Omen X later this autumn. What makes this particular gaming laptop different from some of the competition is that it comes with support for an unlocked CPU which means that you'll be able to overclock the CPU to go beyond its advertised speeds, assuming that's your thing and assuming you know what you're doing. The Omen X laptop can be configured how you'd like and you can choose to get it with Intel's 7th gen Core i7-7820HK CPU, which is factory unlocked for overclocking.

Macy's Stock Gains After Announcing Lawton Hire, Operations Overhaul
Both moves suggest Macy's is trying to bulk up its online efforts. "I'm thrilled that he has chosen to join Macy's ", said Mr. Lawton has strong technology and digital expertise and was most recently senior vice president, eBay North America.

HP is taking its first strides into the laptop space with its Omen line, unveiling the Omen X Laptop.

The laptop's display will be either a 4K display or a 1080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which are ideal options for those who either want the best productivity display or the best for gaming performance. The keyboard on the Omen X laptop comes with 2.5 mm travel with tactile feel and mechanical switches to provide instant feedback, the company said in its release.

But the big story here in a way is that the OMEN X Laptop is very configurable, much like its desktop counterparts. The RGB LEDs can be customized on a per-key basis, and there are customizable maps for the buttons. Users will be able to tweak the lights on the Omen X with HP's Omen Command Center software.

HP says that the device is easy to upgrade, with a single panel that uses Phillips-head screws to be removed, to replace the HDD, SSD, or RAM.

In terms of connectivity options, the new gaming laptop offers options including three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, two Thunderbolt 3-certified USB 3.1 Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.0a port with HDR support, Mini DisplayPort, RJ45 and a multi-format media card reader. There's Audio Boost for better speaker output and DTS Headphone:X for better sound through the headphones. This new software also moves the gaming network traffic with a network booster for reduction of latency in online games.

HP has introduced some incredible products in the past and we expect nothing less from the company or from the new HP Omen X flagship gaming laptop.
