CBI, ED government puppets, hounding Chidambarams: Congress

The Congress on Saturday defended Karti Chidambaram, son of former finance minister P Chidambaram, and said the BJP is trying to divert people's attention from the Centre's failures on the "real" issues such as unemployment, economic downslide, farm distress, demonetisation "disaster" and a "repressive" tax regime.

The summoning comes days after Karti Chidambaram was instructed by the Supreme Court to appear before the CBI in relation to the INX Media Case, where he is accused of receiving irregular FIPB clearance for investment upto Rs 305 crore.

"But he categorically rejected the innuendoes and insinuations of knowledge or connection to Aircel-Maxis transaction", he added. His father Chidambaram was the finance minister at that time.
