Andrew Luck's 2017 status uncertain following setback

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck's return to some resemblance of practice will now be short-lived.

"It's natural it's going to be some pain and soreness when you're rehabbing an injury", Ballard said. "His velocity is good, his motion is good, all that is coming along at a good rate". "We're going to try and shut him down and calm it down right now".

However, Ballard said they haven't considered placing Luck on the injured reserve list and that the soreness is a part of the rehab process. "His long term success is what we're looking for".

As a result Luck will not practice this week, and his status for the 2017 season appears to be up in the air at this point.

"I don't want to speculate right now", Ballard said. That's why we never put a timeline on this.

With Luck out of action this season, Indianapolis is now in last place in the AFC South with a 2-4 record.

Andrew Luck has suffered a setback with his surgically-repaired shoulder, and the Indianapolis Colts quarterback will reportedly be held out of practice this week because of it.

Luck was asked by on Monday if he might be able to play by November, and all he would say is that there's no timetable for his return. He's now again out indefinitely, leaving Jacoby Brissett the starter for the next few weeks and further dropping the floors of T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief.
