CM pays homage to police martyrs

On October 20, 1959, three reconnaissance patrols were launched in northeastern Ladakh to make way for further movement of an Indian expedition, which was on its way to Lanak La. Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh attended the Police Commemoration Day Parade at the Police Memorial Ground in New Delhi.

Nagaland on Saturday observed Police Commemoration Day with Nagaland police top officers paying tributes to 383 police personnel who laid down their lives while performing duties across the country between September 1, 2016 and August 31, 2017. They also laid wreaths on a memorial stone, set up as a mark of respect to the martyred personnel. The Indian police personnel were responsible for manning the 2,500 mile long border of India with Tibet until the autumn of 1959.

DIB Rajiv Jain read out the names of all Police Personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty this year.

Meanwhile, Twitter is pouring in with tweets praising the courage and valor of policemen.

In this incident 10 police personnel were killed while seven others were critically injured.

A memorial was also erected at Hot Springs and members of Police Forces from different parts of the country pay homage to the martyrs there.

Nagaland today joined the Nation in observing Police Commemoration Day by conducting a ceremonial parade at Police New Reserve Phesama.

Since independence, 34,418 police personnel have died while on duty, the Home Ministry said in the statement.

Doungel said that Police Commemoration Day was observed every year across the country as a mark of respect to the fearless police martyrs who had laid down their lives for the country.
