According to The Sun, "The Notorious" has been talking with WWE about a "megabucks wrestling match against one of World Wrestling Entertainment's biggest stars".

A deal between the two parties is said to be close, with any potential match-up being saved for the annual spectacular of WrestleMania.

A source told the UK Sun that McGregor is a big wrestling fan and has developed his persona watching wrestling stars like The Rock and Ric Flair.

"His style is, you know, it's not traditional, it's a bit unorthodox and stuff, but I just honestly think that Conor's going to be way too clean for Ferguson", Roddy explained. "I think the one unique thing that Diaz has is just that unbelievable chin, and like, I don't think Ferguson would be able to take the shots that Diaz took", Roddy said.

There's a long history of MMA stars crossing over into pro wrestling.

A warning to division champion Conor McGregor followed his impressive victory, in which he demanded that if Conor was unwilling to defend his belt (given the talk of a Diaz trilogy fight), he should "set the belt down, just walk away and nobody will get hurt". In February of previous year, he seemed to take a shot at them, calling WWE superstars "messed up pussies".
