Eagles DE Long to donate rest of 2017 salary


Eagles defensive end Chris Long had already proven himself to be a giving person, having donated his first six game checks of the 2017 season to help fund scholarships in his hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia, in an effort to promote education equity.

Long has a $1 million base salary this season.

Currently, 314.3 million total shares are owned by the public and among those 311.17 million shares have been available to trade. It increased, as 54 investors sold CHK shares while 111 reduced holdings. 60 funds opened positions while 136 raised stakes.

"My wife and I have been passionate about education being a gateway for upward mobility and equality", Long said to the AP.

Long told the Associated Press that he is using his final 10 game checks this season to increase educational equality by launching the Pledge 10 for Tomorrow campaign. Jenkins has raised his right fist in the air during the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" before each Eagles game since Week 2 of last season, and Long began placing him am around Jenkins during the anthem this preseason, after white supremacists held a rally that turned violent in Charlottesville. Pledge 10 for Tomorrow is a crowdfunding campaign Long began which asks people to either make a one-time donation or pledge a donation for the last 10 games of the National Football League season. It encourages fans and businesses to make a donation, with a goal of matching the pledges that Long is making. The city that raises the most money will earn an additional $50,000 donation. A unanimous All-American at the University of Virginia and son of NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long, Chris Long was the second overall pick of the 2008 draft by the St. Louis Rams and the NFL Lineman of the Year in 2011.

"There's a lot of opportunities to help out and they're wonderful organizations", Long said.
